Online classes or traditional classes

While the internet is a great source for us all, how much information provided is truly understood?  I cannot answer this question for society as a whole, but I will answer how I feel traditional schooling far surpasses online schooling.

          Through my incredible journey with schooling I have taken both virtual and traditional classes. While virtual classes are “convenient” I have never been able to retain the information after the exams for that class, let alone permanently. I classify myself as a kinesthetic learner, a learner who “does”. We learn from modeling others. We learn 10% of what we read, 30% of what we see, 50% of what we hear, 70% of what we discuss, 80% of what we experience, and 95% of what we teach others.

 “Education is the process in which we discover that learning adds quality to our lives. Learning must be experienced.” William Glasser. Traditional schooling gives me the opportunity to be in the field and feel with my hands and heart the information I need to obtain.

          I, a future Occupational Therapist and Doctor of Special Education Services at Florida Gulf Coast University could not prosper from strictly online classes. Let’s be real with one another, today you can get a nursing degree online. Would you want that nurse to tend to you when you are sick?  As Albert Einstein says, “Any fool can know. The point is to understand.”
